Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of Brockton Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept them. Do not use the service if you do not agree.

1. Nature of the Service

Brockton Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections relevant to Brockton, Massachusetts. It does not host government records and is not connected with an office, court, library, or record custodian.

2. Acceptable Use Rules

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it, or information found through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions involving credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or similar matters
  • Scrape, copy, or systematically republish service content
  • Disrupt the operation or security of the service

3. Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither material here nor a result from a linked search tool is a consumer report. None may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another FCRA-covered purpose.

4. Outside Services

Government portals and other services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control or accept responsibility for their content, availability, prices, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that material is accurate, complete, or current, or that a linked portal will function or return correct results.

6. Limits of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages that arise from use of the service or a linked resource, including decisions based on records found through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, resulting from misuse of the service or a violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Links and brief attributed quotations are permitted; full-page republication or systematic copying is not.

9. Updates to These Terms

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Using the service after that posting means you accept the change.

10. Access Restrictions

We may restrict or block access, without notice and at our discretion, when a user violates these terms or misuses the service.

11. Governing Law

Massachusetts law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record requests to Brockton custodians are governed by Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, §10 and 950 CMR 32.00; those laws do not make this private service a records custodian.

12. Severability

If one provision of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective.
